Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re having any problems setting up your files for Rieck’s Printing, look over the FAQ below and you may find answers to some of the most common questions regarding desktop publishing. If you still have any questions, please contact your customer representative.
"Do you accept both Macintosh and
Windows files?"
Yes, Rieck’s Printing accepts both platforms. However, we may not necessarily be running the same software applications that you are. If you want to be sure that Rieck’s is running the same software applications as you, call your customer service representative prior to sending your files.
How can I be sure that I have given you all the elements necessary in order to produce my job?
It is always important to furnish complete, well-organized files, especially when you are under a tight deadline. In order to guarantee that all necessary components are included, use Preflight software designed to gather all participating files and fonts we need to produce your job.
What software applications are recommended for layout of my files?
Rieck’s recommends that files be assembled in either Quark XPress 6 or greater or Adobe InDesign CS or greater. When placing graphics or photos, files should be saved as Photoshop .tif or .eps files, Illustrator .eps files, or Freehand .eps files.
Can I send jpeg files?
Yes, jpeg files are acceptable in your layout program. However, if possible, we strongly suggest converting them to .tif or .eps files and placing those instead. This will give you the finest quality reproduction possible.
Do you accept images saved in the RGB color space?
Yes, you can save your files in the RGB color space; however they will have to be converted to CMYK before printing. Rieck’s will do this, however, it may cause slight color shifts and/or additional time in the prepress department.
Should I build my files on an oversized page?
No, we request that you please build your pages to the finished trim size. If you want anything to bleed off the page, we request that you provide at least 1/8 “ bleed beyond the crop marks. If you are building a pocket folder or folding brochure, please build pages to the unfolded flat size.
What is the best way to send files to Rieck’s?
You can e-mail your files to dgrieff@riecksprinting.com (provided the file size is under 5mb), burn them to a CD or DVD and send them to Rieck’s Printing, 101 South First Avenue, West Reading, Pennsylvania 19611, or call us at 610-375-8581 and we’ll arrange to pick them up for you.
Why don't spot colors on my proof from Rieck’s look exactly like the Pantone book swatches?
Our proofing system is profiled to match the CMYK builds of our printing presses and cannot duplicate spot PMS colors. Converting Pantone colors to CMYK during proofing may cause color shifts. However, your Pantone colors on press will match the Pantone solid-ink swatches exactly.
How can I check on the status of my job while it's at Rieck’s Printing?
You may contact your Sales Representative in order to quickly check on your job.
Will Rieck’s Printing deliver or must I pick up my job?
Rieck’s Printing has its own delivery truck as well as Courier Service and Common Carrier Freight.
